Taylor Swift is no stranger to success and once again she has topped the charts! With releasing her new album ‘1989’ just under a month ago, her new single ‘Blank Space’ has already gone on to make chart history.
We all know that it is tough competition for the top spot on the billboard top 100, and it seemed that Taylor’s biggest competition was in fact… herself? ‘Blank Space’ went from being Number 13 to Number 1 in the Billboard top 100 and knocked her current single ‘Shake it off’ off the top spot, which made Tay Tay the first woman in the hot 100’s 56-year history to succeed herself at the top spot.
Following her Number 1s for ‘Shake It Off’ and its 4 week reign at the top spot as well as the very addictive track that is ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’, ‘Blank Space’ became her Third Hot 100 song to get to the top of the charts AND Taylor is the only artist this year to get Two Hot 100 No.1s, Wow
The 24 year old is now the tenth act in history to achieve this following the likes of The Beatles and Usher.
The video for the track was released on November 10th with Taylor playing the role of the crazy ex- girlfriend, which in our opinion was just utterly brilliant. As well as the single doing so well, Taylor’s latest album ‘1989’ remained number one for a third consecutive week after being named the fastest selling record in 12 years. Well if this chart is anything to go by, the only competition that Taylor has to worry about is from herself!
