Download lineup announced

The past three days have been early mornings galore for rock fans as major rock festival Download revealed four acts, including all three main stage headliners, at exactly 8am on each day.

Headlining the main-stage this year will be nu-metal kings Slipknot, who will bring their all-new stage show and setlist to Donnington (the home of Download). KISS will slay Download with their epicness for the first time since 2008, seven years too long we think. To top it all off, stadium-rock superstars Muse will play Download for the first time ever.

Possibly the greatest heavy metal band of all time, Judas Priest will grace Download as special guests of Slipknot and playing just before them will be America’s finest alternative metal band, Five Finger Death Punch, who are joining Judas Priest on their European tour.

Funk Metal is a weird one, and you can’t get any weirder than the epic (see what we did there?) Faith No More who will be special guests to Muse. Playing before them will be pop-punk metal crossovers A Day To Remember who will surely make it a night to remember.

Glam-rock veterans Motley Crue will play their last ever UK Festival date as special guests of KISS in what will be a set full of hits, hits, hits. Guitar guru and downright legend Slash will bring his band Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators to stun the crowd with both his technical wizardry and Myles Kennedy’s angel-like voice.

The second stage is also shaping up rather nicely. Rising hard-rockers Black Stone Cherry will return to Download after being last year’s super-cool secret band. Shock Rock legend Marilyn Manson will bring his latest tormented stage show whilst St Alban’s finest, Enter Shikari, will bring their electro-metal to the fore-front.

The announcement of Muse has come as the most controversial, as many traditional fans deem them too mainstream to play, despite having a barrage of hits and the fact they’ve headlined Wembley Stadium. Muse replied with the statement “We’re looking forward to rocking the **** out of Download!”

Download takes place 12th-14th June. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9am.
