First of all Red Carpet Biz have been following you as you know
since ‘turn my swag on’ reached number 1 in the Uk Indie Chart & number 20 in the UK Singles chart! Amazing stuff and to add to that you have almost
30,000,000 You Tube hits with over 140,000 subscribers! You really must
pinch yourself in the morning?
When I set the YouTube channel up just under 2 years ago, I never in a million years expected it to grow like it has! I wanted to share my music with whoever was willing to listen, and it turns out over 140,000 people are! I really am so thankful to everyone who watches my videos. I definitely pinch myself every day!
Out of all the feedback you have got, which has been the most productive &
have you received any celebrity feedback?
The most productive feedback has been general on the videos themselves. Because I’ve done so many different types of songs, the feedback has helped me decide which musical direction to take with my original material. What’s funny about YouTube is that everybody has a voice – so everybody can play Simon Cowell and give their opinion on what they see. Luckily most of my feedback is positive! In terms of celebs, I’ve been noticed and tweeted by all sorts of people; Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand, Rizzle Kicks, Tinchy Stryder, Beverly Knight, Justin Bieber, Mike Posner, Scooter Braun, Danii Minogue and Olly Murs too who I supported at a gig he did last year which was amazing. I’ve performed some of the their songs – so when they see my version and like it, it’s amazing. I can’t wait til other people are covering my songs!
We hear you have been working on a new album , give us a brief overview of
what we should expect & can you let us in on any spoilers?
I want people of all ages to be able to relate to my music. I have written sad songs, but ultimately I want to make people happy and spread a positive and uplifting message. I want to help people forget about their problems, but also let people know that they’re not the only ones who go through tough times and that they’re not alone. I’m learning and growing every day, and so is my album!
Who would you most like to work with & who would you say is your
I always say how this is SUCH a hard question to answer, because there are so many people I would love to collaborate with. I would absolutely love to work with India Arie simply because she is one of my biggest inspirations in music. But there are loads of people I’d give my right arm to work with, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce… I’ve always wanted to get Lil Wayne on a track too!
What advice would you give to any young aspiring singers?
Never ever ever give up. If it’s what you really want to do, dedicate your life to it. Don’t try to be the best, but always try to better yourself! And most importantly, ENJOY it!
What do you think of the One Direction Boys & how would you like to crack
the American market?
Fair play to them! They seem like great guys and they come across as really hard working, so they deserve it! Of course I’d absolutely love to crack the American market! I’ve met with a few labels in the US, in New York and LA – so we’ll see what happens!
