Music’s equivalent of the Oscars is tonight (eek)! We are of course talking about the 55th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony. Being such a high-profile event, the organisers of this year’s show want our stars to keep it classy for the cameras and appear to be cracking down on, well, in their own words, ‘buttock crack’! A grim way of putting it, right?! Check out the wordy statement the Grammys sent out to the musical talent that are expected to attend tonight (it’s HILARIOUS):
‘Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera. Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.’
We have one question: What will RihRih do? Rihanna is expected to give a show-stopping performance at the event (and is nominated for three awards- congrats!) but given her previous stage attire, we feel that these new restrictions could leave her at a loss for what to wear, particularly given past costume choices such as this at the 2011 show:
Uh-Oh! I think we can see ‘bare fleshy under-curves’ there!
Let’s face it though, I think we’re all hoping she flouts the rules in true ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ fashion. She did, after all, appear on the X Factor live shows in a pair of creepers adorned with the message ‘F**k Off!’ so we think it’s unlikely she’ll be deterred from a bit of rule-breaking tonight.
We love Rihanna’s rebel sense of fashion and we look forward to seeing how the stars handle the strict rules imposed by the Grammys- it will make for interesting viewing.
One more thing: who else feels disturbed by the use of ‘puffy’ in that description? Ew.
Are you excited for the Grammys? Do you love or loath Rihanna’s style? What do you think of this dress-code? Tweet us over at @RCB_Music , we love your opinions!
